I want to thank all the coaches, parents and especially the players for making the first season of the GMYFC a huge success. It was a blind leap of faith for all the organizations that joined and I believe that everyone was glad they did. There were a lot of things that we liked about our inagural season as well as some things we didn't. We have worked hard in the off season, listned to feedback from our members and we have made some changes that will make 2014 bigger and better.
1) We will be entering 2014 with two divisions of play. This will allow teams to play more games against similiar competition while still allowing them to challenge themselves through cross division play.
2) We have created a new playoff structure which will allow every team to compete for the Gold Championship. The Silver Championship will still be a part of the Championship Series but we have dropped the Bronze.
3) We have created a new Kindergarten League that will allow our youngest athletes to play on the same day and field that the other teams play on. More importantly, they will be playing against other kindergartners their own age under a scrimmage based format with all the coaches on the field.
4) There have been some minor rule changes that were made to help promote player safety as well as better competition.
I think you will be very happy with the work that we have done. These changes are the result of your feedback, both positive and negative. The GMYFC will continue to listen, evaluate and evolve into the best youth football league in the state. Thanks for being a part of it.
